Brick Yard is in a great spot on Charles Square in Shoreditch, just a short walk from Old Street station, with many of Shoreditch’s independent cafés, restaurants and cultural venues within a few minutes’ walk.

Operated by Ethical Property, the building has a noticeably different feel to many managed workspaces. Rather than offering standardised offices, the focus is on flexibility and community. The workspaces are essentially blank canvases, allowing occupiers to configure and furnish their offices to suit their own requirements.

The communal facilities are practical and thoughtfully considered. Two ground-floor meeting rooms can be used independently or combined to create a larger event space for AGMs, workshops and team gatherings, with a generous allocation of free meeting room hours included. Secure gated cycle storage, showers, accessible changing facilities and even a washing machine support active commuters.

There is a huge emphasis on community and networking. Brick Yard shares an events programme with Ethical Property’s wider network, creating opportunities to connect with like-minded organisations both locally and across the UK. A community noticeboard highlights volunteering opportunities, local initiatives and upcoming events, and while the management team aren’t based on site, they are easily accessible and actively involved in supporting occupiers.

There is a strong family feel to the workspace. It’s friendly, flexible and very definitely community-led.
